Jack Sable
Age 96, of Pittsburgh, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Beloved husband of Sarah V. Sable (Versaw); loving father of Jack D. (Lois B.) Sable, Jeffrey B. (Jeannine M.) Sable and Jay C. (Paige L.) Sable; grandfather of Justin B. Sable, Jasmine R. Bromley, Jordan A. Sable and Jared M. Sable; great-grandfather of Isaac and Oliver Bromley; brother of James R. Sable and the late Ruth Wilson. Jack was a proud Pitt graduate, played drums in the marching band, was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi the honorary band fraternity, and was a member of the Pitt AFROTC. Jack was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force having served as an Intelligence Officer during the Korean War years. He was Honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1954 at the rank of Captain. He was the President of the Pitt Band Alumni Association from 1974 to 1975. He was very passionate about music and was one of the founding members of the Fox Chapel High School Band Parents Association where his three sons attended school and played drums in the band. He was a hard worker and as the owner of Kingsly Homes for over 50 years, he built premier custom homes all over the Allegheny County area. Jack was a lifetime member of the NRA and had a passion for target shooting and he taught all his sons and grandchildren to shoot. Jack was also a founding member of Foxwall EMS, served as chief of operations and his company built the first Foxwall operations building. One of his favorite activities was spending time with his grandchildren and he dedicated his life to caring for his wife Sarah.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, March 11, 2024 from 2-8 PM at English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 378 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the Funeral Home, followed by interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s name to the United Service Organizations (USO) at https://secure.uso.org.
