William L. Shakoske

Born May 3, 1936 and passed peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 surrounded by family. Beloved husband of 56 years to Judith (Hoffman) Shakoske; father of Amy (Steven) Gillespie and Karen (Peter) Schoettler; grandfather of Paige and Sophia Gillespie; brother of Richard Sweepe. Preceded in death by his siblings Dorothy Mentch, Paul Sweepe, Bob Sweepe, Walt Sweepe, Evelyn Kimmel, Betty Lou Leight, Virginia Kelley and Connie Piveronas. Bill worked at Roessing Montgomery Company for over 30 years and was part of the Fox Chapel Racquet Club for 18 years. He had a strong work ethic and knew the importance of being on time and following through on your word, which were lessons he passed on to his family. Bill was an avid golfer and softball player. He was the biggest fan and supporter of all of his daughters' and granddaughters' sports and activities. Ultimately, he loved spending time with his family and got very competitive during game night. He was a loyal fan of Pittsburgh sports and watched every Pirates, Panthers and Steelers game. His Sundays were spent reading the newspaper, as well as listening to and singing along with Frank Sinatra. Affectionately called Poozle or Shake by family and friends, he always had a story or a joke to make you laugh.

We miss you now, our hearts are sore. As time goes by we miss you more. Your loving smile, your gentle face. No one can fill your vacant place.
