Welcome to the memorial page for

Adele J. Dickinson

October 11, 1927 ~ October 1, 2017 (age 89)

Adele Dickinson. Age 89, most recently from Newark, DE, passed away at home on Sunday, October 1, 2017 with her daughter by her side. Previously Adele resided in Pittsburgh for over 50 years. Adele was born in New Haven, CT on October 11, 1927 to the late Simon Vonigas and the late Mary Duzinskas Vonigas. Adele was predeceased by her husband, Richard Dickinson, son Robert Dickinson and siblings:  Helen Butkus, Isabelle Shamansky, Beatrice Pleines, and Simon Vonigas. There will certainly be a glorious reunion in heaven. Adele is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Eugene Napadensky of Newark, DE, and many nieces and nephews. As a homemaker, she was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed knitting, and making afghans for those she loved.  Not much for politics, “They’re all a bunch of crooks”, she last voted for Eisenhower.  If asked about previous employment she would remark, “I was a stripper!!”  (She peeled tobacco leaves in a cigar factory).  Adele also had a bit of royal blood in her as a descendent of Jedimimas, the Grand Duke of Lithuania. In her later years she enjoyed her vast collection of PBS British murder mysteries, and was a fan of Jessica Fletcher of Murder, She Wrote. All that knew her will sadly miss her sense of humor, bright smile, and caring spirit. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 11:00 am in the chapel of the Verona Cemetery, 666 Pennsylvania Ave, Oakmont, PA 15139. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in honor of Adele to: Humane Animal Rescue, 6926 Hamilton Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15208. Arrangements entrusted to English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. Oakmont, PA. Online condolences may be made to:
