Elinor “Nira” Suich Yarris. 84, of Uniontown, received her angel wings and flew to her heavenly home on Friday, December 28th, 2018 after fighting a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body Dementia. Nira was preceded in death by her parents George and Bridget Suich, husband James Vincent Yarris, son Frank Kerry Yarris, and sisters Rita Kantorik and Barbara Battistoni. Left to cherish Nira’s memory are daughters Jamie Yarris Filburn and husband Russ of Uniontown, Kandy Yarris Newell and husband John of Pittsburgh, daughter-in-law Nancy McDonough Yarris of Ben Avon and seven grandchildren Corey, Adam and Breanna Filburn, Keane and Macklin Yarris, and Molly and Megan Newell, and many nieces and nephews. Nira was born November 25, 1934 and named after the National Industrial Recovery Act (her father was a strong Democrat) for which she loved to tell the story. Nira loved being a grandmother saying “If I knew having grandchildren was so much fun I would have had them first”. Nira was a 50 year member of the Third Presbyterian Church of Uniontown where she served as a Deacon. Nira was a loving wife and mother who always put her family first. Nira enjoyed baking, sewing, and crafting. Her achievements earned her countless blue ribbons at the county fairs including Grand Champion on several occasions. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 5th at 11:00 am at Third Presbyterian Church in Uniontown.
