Lois W. Knavish

October 31, 1931 ~ September 21, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Lois W. Knavish. Age 85 of Plum passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Leonard A. Knavish. Loving mother of David J. Knavish, Lisa (Ken) Petrocelly, and the late Arthur Knavish. Sister of Carole Staab, the late John “Jack” C. Woshner, Raymond Woshner, Michael Woshner, and Sue Jones. Dear grandmother of Liam and Ophelia Petrocelly. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Lois was a 1950 graduate of St. Basil’s High School where she met her future husband and later married him on September 29, 1956. She attended Ohio State University and Georgetown University and worked for the CIA. An enthusiast of the natural world, she enjoyed vacationing in the mountains and at the beach. Lois could often be found in her yard tending to her rock garden and the local birds. She involved herself in volunteer work at Forbes Regional Hospital and at Our Lady of Joy Parish before moving to Longwood at Oakmont. She overcame numerous obstacles in the form of health issues yet always kept a sense of acceptance, hope, perseverance, and joy. Her contentment and goodwill remained the hallmark of her character throughout the years and she was loved by all who came to know her. Friends will be received Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 2-6 pm and Monday, September 25, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 378 Maryland Ave, Oakmont, PA 15139. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 10 am at Our Lady of Joy Parish, Plum, PA.  EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment will follow in Plum Creek Cemetery. Out of her fondness of animals, memorial contributions may be made in Lois’s name to Animal Friends (thinkingoutsidethecage.org) or in light of recent world tragedies, to the Salvation Army.
