Vincent J. Marino Sr. “Vince”. Age 96, of Verona passed to eternal life on Thursday December 21, 2017 at Newhaven Court at Lindwood of Greensburg. He was born May 29, 1921 in Verona Pa, the son of Rosario and Rosina (Liberto) Marino. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years Helen Catherine (Agnich) Marino, sisters Sarah DeMaio, Theresa Berceli, Rose Hull and grandson Michael Cunningham. He is survived by his sister Josephine (Vincent) Donatelli of Pittsburgh, Sons Vincent J (Patricia) Marino Sr. of St. Louis MO, Philip J (Linda) Marino of Youngwood PA, Paul (Kathy) Marino of Plum Borough PA, daughter Kathleen (Bryan) Goodwin of St. Louis MO, granddaughter Michelle (Marty Allen) Marino, grandson Andrew (Nicole) Goodwin as well as great-grandchildren Skylar Marino, Hunter Marino, Noah Cunningham, Reese Cunningham, Ethan Cunningham and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Marino was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Parish in Verona and served as an alter boy as a youth. He was a graduate of St. Joseph School in 1935 and graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1939. He was employed by his family farm and grocery store in Verona before serving in the Civilian Conservation Camp in Hyner, PA. He was later employed at the American Steel Company as a machinist and shop foreman for Bloomcraft of Pittsburgh where he retired from after 35 years of service. He also worked at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1634 as a bartender where he met his wife Catherine, and later as Aerie Secretary for 44 years. Mr. Marino joined the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1634 in Verona, PA in 1941 and served as Grand Worthy President, PA State President, Eastern Regional President which included New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He served as Aerie secretary for 44 years and was active in the REAC group. The Verona Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1634 was renamed the Vince Marino Aerie #1634 in 2013 in honor of his years of dedication to the Aerie and community. Friends and family will be received Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 4-8 pm at English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 378 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 10 am in St. Joseph Parish, Verona. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association or Animal Full Life Rescue Inc. 908 Ramsey St. Pittsburgh, PA 15221.
