Betty Lou Stewart

Betty Lou Stewart, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on May 7, 2026, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Born on June 7, 1935, in Pittsburgh to Lewis and Louisa Fassinger, Betty Lou spent her entire life in the city she called home.

Betty Lou was a devoted family woman who cherished her role as "Gaga" to her grandchildren. She is survived by her three daughters: Kelley Young (John), Kim Carlin (John), and Keri Heaton (Dave). Her legacy continues through her nine grandchildren—Stewart (Meredith), Brittany Young, Zachary Young (Cortney), Haley Young, Megan Williams (Blake), Matthew Carlin (Anna), Emily Carlin, Connor Heaton (Patricia) and Bailey Heaton—and her great-grandson Cruz Young. She is survived by her sister, Linda Fassinger and predeceased by her parents, Lewis and Louisa Fassinger.

Betty Lou’s life was filled with simple joys that brought her immense happiness. She loved walking, swimming, and spending time with friends affectionately known as "the Gin Girls." Her fondness for candy, hot tea, animal crackers, and shopping—especially when she had a mission—was well-known to those close to her. Her radiant smile and positive outlook left an indelible mark on everyone she met.

Above all else, Betty Lou found joy in being surrounded by her family. Whether it was sharing laughter over tea or creating memories with her grandchildren, she treasured every moment spent with loved ones.

May Betty Lou’s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 7, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 378 Maryland Avenue, Oakmont, PA 15139.
