Chester "Chet" Grabowski Obituary

Chester “Chet” C. Grabowski

Age 84, of East Oakmont, passed away at home on Sunday, January 12, 2025. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Elaine Grabowski, and his parents Chester and Joanne Grabowski; loving father of Mark (Patty) Grabowski and Lynn Botta; grandfather of Matthew (Emily Wirtz, MD) Grabowski, MD, Lauren (fiancé Christopher Berardi) Grabowski,  Kimberly Botta, Kristen Grabowski and Kelly Botta; recent great-grandfather of Theodore Grabowski, brother of Richard (Sally) Grabowski; also survived by nieces and nephews.

Chet was a spiritual man who shared his faith and strength in God with others. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and was loved and admired by many. The impact of Chet’s life will be felt for years to come. If Chet was not practicing his faith as a Eucharistic Minister at 4 PM Saturday Mass at Holy Family Parish, St. Irenaeus Church, you could find him gallivanting around Oakmont for dinner, or across state lines to different shops every weekend with his other half, Elaine. In his free time, he also enjoyed cheering on Pittsburgh sports teams, spending time with his family vacationing in Myrtle Beach, and relaxing in his TV room.

Chet was a proud graduate of Pittsburgh Central Catholic HS Class of ‘58.  After graduation, he went into work in the insurance field for many years, including opening a small business in the heart of downtown Oakmont.

Chet was the perfect example of a family man. He was a stable rock in his children and grandchildren’s lives. He went above and beyond to cheer at every hockey game, show support at every graduation and school musical, and provide encouraging words while teaching most of his grandchildren how to drive. He was even blessed to have spent his last few days as a great-grandfather, something he was looking forward to for many years. Chet’s legacy of family, faith, and hard work will live on forever throughout the many stories and memories shared with his dear family and friends.
