Doris Jean “Chubby” Tomlinson (nee Page) of Oakmont, Pennsylvania died Friday, March 28, 2025 at the age of 84. Doris was born June 13, 1940 in Greensburg, PA to parents Wilbur Robert “Bob” and Betty Jean Page (nee Yost). As a newborn, a relative commented on her chubby cheeks and the nickname “Chubby” followed Doris the rest of her life. On October 6, 1962, Doris married William (Bill) Tomlinson.
Blessed with an outsized heart, a sharp wit, and the gift of conversation, Doris was a friend to all who knew her. She loved the beach, especially Siesta Key, shopping, and spending time with friends and family. She excelled at creating warm holiday traditions filled with laughter and stories. Doris had a strong faith in God and innate understanding of human nature that made her a support and confidant to many.
Doris graduated from Greensburg High School and earned her Registered Nursing degree from Shadyside School of Nursing. Doris worked as a nurse at Children’s Hospital, a private medical practice, and other hospitals. Doris worked for the family business, Tomlinson Agency, at several small businesses in Oakmont and Verona, and also assisted several families with child care.
Doris was active with the Oakmont Women’s Club, the Krazy Keglers bowling league, and the Kerr Memorial Museum. Doris was an avid gardener and loved dogs and dogwood trees.
Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband Bill, her parents, and her brothers Robert “Eddie” and Richard. She is survived by brother James (Terry) Page of New Cumberland, PA, sons Mark (Kate) Tomlinson of Pittsburgh, PA, Rick (Cindy) Tomlinson of Wyomissing, PA, and Bill (Paula) Tomlinson of Oakmont, PA, grandchildren Kevin, Zach, Emeline, and Liam, as well as nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 9 AM - 12 PM at English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 378 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA, 15139. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:30 PM at Oakmont Presbyterian Church, 415 Pennsylvania Ave., Oakmont, PA, 15139. A private interment will take place at Oakmont Verona Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations can be made to the Oakmont Carnegie Library at 700 Allegheny River Blvd, Oakmont, PA 15139.
