Emilia Dachille Riggio, age 93, died peacefully at home on October 5, 2021. She was born May 2, 1928, the fifth of six children of Sisto and Lucy Dachille. Emilia is the last surviving sibling in her family with her three sisters, Matilda Damico, Arvilla Dachille, and Helen Caruso, and her two brothers, Carmen Dachille and Paul Dachille, all preceding her in death. Emilia graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1946 and married Salvatore Riggio the next year. She is survived by their children Salvatore (Janet) Riggio, Joyce Lowen, and Richard (Tabitha) Riggio; grandchildren Gina (Jacob), Mark (Samantha), Melanie (Justin), and Allena; nieces and nephews Beth, Diane, Matthew, Nichole, Paul, Pete, Pete Jr., Sheree, and Susan; and sister-in-law Jean Dachille. Emilia and “Sam” raised their children in the Verona area of Pittsburgh and moved to Boca Raton, FL in 1996 to spend their “golden years” living with their daughter and in proximity to their oldest son. After the death of her husband in March 2006, Millie continued to enjoy concerts and plays through her membership at Broward Performing Arts Center, spa get-a-ways, and swimming. She relocated back to the Pittsburgh area in 2018 to live with her youngest son in Murrysville. Emilia was a devout Catholic and volunteered for Christian Mothers. She was a teacher at Kipp Modeling School and became a director at Powers Finishing School. No one can think of Emilia without thinking about bridge. She ran her own games in Fox Chapel, PA and assisted in running games in Florida. She became a Ruby Life Master in January 2016. In her youth, she wrote poetry, taught herself to play the guitar, and learned to bake. Although we thank you for your support during this difficult time, the Mass of Christian Burial and interment will be private. Emilia will be laid to rest beside her late husband Salvatore. Arrangements are entrusted to English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 378 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. For memorial contributions, the family has designated Mass cards, the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System https://www.volunteer.va.gov/apps/VolunteerNow/, Bethany Hospice https://bethanyhospice.com/donate/, or Catholic Television https://www.ewtn.com/tv.
