Forrest “Randy” Randolph Johnston
Age 96, of Longwood at Oakmont, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. Randy was married to the late Susan Armstrong Johnston for 58 years. He was born in McComas, West Virginia to the late Andrew and Marguerite Johnston and was the brother of the late Virginia Kathleen Blair and the late Janis Ann Drosick. Randy is survived by his nephew Dr. David Randolph Drosick. He graduated from Gary High School at the age of 16 (youngest in his class), and went on to attend National Business College in Roanoke, VA and Virginia Military Institution in Lexington, VA. Randy was employed by U.S. Steel Corporation, working in West Virginia, Kentucky and Pennsylvania before retiring from the corporate headquarters, after 43 years of service. He was a WWII Veteran having served three years with the 282 Combat Engineer Battalion for which he earned battle credits for action in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. Randy was a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Murrysville, a member of the Penn Brotherhood Lodge No. 635 F, A.M. Syria Temple, Scottish Rite, Penn Hills Caravan #20 (President in 1983) and the American Legion 40 & 8. In accordance with Randy’s wishes there will be no visitation or Memorial Service. He will be interred at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Arrangements are entrusted to English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 378 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139.
