Helen G. Zelek, 93, of Verona, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Born Helen Gresh on July 13, 1929, in Johnstown, she married Joseph (Dyke) Zelek in 1953 and moved to Verona, where she lived for 70 years. Helen wore many hats throughout her life, and endured, with a calm spirit, kind words and sympathetic ear for all and any she encountered. Preceded by her husband, their parents, siblings and spouses, Helen now joins all of her generational family (Zelek, Gresh, Chamiok)  in Eternal Peace. She is survived by her children Ramona Piotrowski (John), Joey Zelek (Jill), Joy Zelek (Mark Koehler) and her one and only and dearly loved grandchild Danielle Koehler (Evan Wesselman). Whether you called her aunt, (and she was a fan favorite amongst her 21 nieces and nephews!) cousin, friend, gramma or mom, you most assuredly know that she cherished all of her family and friends, regardless of circumstance, and judgment free, happy to be a part of your world, where ever and whenever she could be. A Blessing Ceremony is being held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Johnstown on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 1pm, with a “Life Celebration” pending June 10, 2023. Arrangements entrusted to English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 378 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. Honoring their mother”s wishes, the family requests that donations be made to the Animal Shelter of your choice.
