Janice “Jan” Gentile
Of Verona, passed unexpectedly on Sunday, October, 30, 2022. Beloved wife of Michael A.Gentile (SP-4, US Army); loving mother of Dawn (John) Gentile, Ivy (Steve) Novick, and Kelli Verno; grandma of Taylor, Devon, Raeanna, and Stephen; sister Jill Demko, brothers the late George Walters III, and the late Jerry Walters. As a retired nurse, Jan was a thoughtful and compassionate individual who cared for her patients and doted on her family. She spent more than 20 years caring for people, from nursing home residents to inmates. After she retired, Jan couldn’t sit still so she took a job as an aid, caring for a disabled student during the bus ride to and from school. She often talked about how rewarding the work was and she treasured the time she spent with her student. Jan loved holidays and she never forgot a birthday. She always had a gift to give, from Valentine’s day to Christmas. She loved spending time soaking up the sun and looked forward to summer vacations with her family in Ocean City. Jan loved dogs, but there was always a special place in her heart for Pomeranians especially Mystique, Smokey Bear, Tigger, Tiff, and Floki. Jan will always be remembered for her love and generosity and we will miss her every day. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, November 9th, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 378 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in Jan’s name to Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children at https://westernpaschoolforblindchildren.salsalabs.org/givetoday/index.html .
