Joseph Scalamogna
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph A. Scalamogna of Verona, PA who left us on March 4, 2025 at the age of 77. He immigrated to the United States from Italy at the young age of 12. He was a beloved son to the late Domenico Scalamogna and the late Giovanna Lombardo, brother to the late Maria Lazzaro (Lorenzo), Francesco Scalamogna (Angela), Vincenza Michienzi (Domenico), uncle to the late Joseph Lazzaro, Rosa Marie Lazzaro Finis (Larry), Domenico Lazzaro, Larry Lazzaro (Mary), Sandra Lazzaro Cifelli (Alan), Domenico Scalamogna (Viviana), Giuseppe Scalamogna (Angela), Daniele Scalamogna (Samantha), Joseph Michienzi, Roberto Michienzi, Teresa Michienzi Garisto (Nicola), great-uncle to many nephews, nieces and a cherished friend and relative to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born into an Italian family, Joseph was proud of his heritage and carried it with him in everything he did. He found peace and happiness in the great outdoors, tending to his garden, hunting, fishing or enjoying the beauty of the beach.
Above all, Joseph loved his family. He was a devoted brother and a treasured uncle. His kindness, laughter, and unwavering support will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 8, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Raphael Catholic Church (St. Jude Parish), 1154 Chislett Street, Pittsburgh, PA. Private entombment to follow at Mount Royal Cemetery in Glenshaw, PA. The family has asked that no flowers are sent, but in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in Joseph’s name.
