L. Lynn Frederick Obituary

L. Lynn Frederick

L. Lynn Frederick, 86, of Fox Chapel, PA, left us peacefully on November 8, 2024.  Loving mother of Paul (Kim) Frederick, Kristin Frederick and the late Brett (Marianne) Frederick; grandmother of Joshua (Mallory) Frederick, Mallory (Adam) Bittinger, Allison Frederick, Megan (Lawson) Builder, Cole Frederick, Sadie (Ralph) Signorella, Lidia Signorella and Jacob Signorella; great-grandmother of Sophie and Samuel Bittinger and Lucie Frederick; sister of Bradley (Andrea) Scheidmantel, Dennis Scheidmantel and the late Dave Scheidmantel (Cindy surviving); also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Born on June 21, 1938, and raised in Rochester, PA, Lynn grew up to receive her degree from the Shadyside School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA. She joined the community of Kittanning, PA in 1970, where she raised her three children. She later attended Chatham University, where she graduated in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in English. She returned permanently to Pittsburgh in 2009 where she resided in Fox Chapel and enjoyed the proximity of family and both longtime and new friends.

Lynn had a deep love of reading and shared this appreciation with others; she enjoyed discussing material and was always quick to graciously lend her books to fellow readers. She was a formidable Scrabble player and continued to cultivate her skill with Words with Friends and the daily Wordle. She had a strong appreciation for nature and knowledgeably nurtured her plants and flowers. She enjoyed cooking and had an incredible ability to always cultivate a warm and inviting place to share with all the people she loved. She cherished both every day and milestone moments with her children, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom she was lovingly referred to as “Ninny.” Her fierce, abundant, and indelible love for her family will live on in her legacy.

Arrangements are private and entrusted to English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 378 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lynn’s name to Reach Out and Read, the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania or the DePaul School for Hearing and Speech.
