Margaret “Peggy” A. (O’Neill) Suchevich
Age 72, of Verona, on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Donald Suchevich; loving mother of the late Ashley Erin Suchevich; daughter of the late William O’Neill and Wanda Davis; sister of Nancy O’Neill, Sally O’Neill and the late Daniel O’Neill; proud aunt of Davis Denny, whom she helped raise; also survived by her best friend of 55 years Elizabeth Malay, who’s friendship was greatly valued and Phillip and Susan Conte, who always supported her and her family.
Peggy was a devoted funeral director, community leader, and lifelong resident of the Verona-Oakmont area. She graduated from Oakmont High School in 1970 and went on to earn associate degrees from both Allegheny Community College and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. She dedicated her professional life to guiding families through some of their most difficult times, serving with compassion and dignity as a funeral director at both O’Neill Funeral Home and Ogrodnik Funeral Home for many decades.
Beyond her professional calling, Peggy was deeply rooted in her community. She served proudly on the Verona Borough Council, where she advocated for local families and worked to enhance the quality of life in her hometown. She was also a founding member of the Verona Fall Fest, where she could often be found cooking and serving at the food concession stand. Peggy was an active member of the Oakmont Women’s Club and served as a Girl Scout leader, mentoring young girls through her example of service and kindness. She also dedicated time to the Guardian Angel Ambulance Service, providing support and care in yet another meaningful way. Her commitment to others, her tireless volunteerism, and her nurturing presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
