Mary M. Gent

Mary M. Gent, 89, of Lower Burrell, died Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Arden Courts in Monroeville.  She had resided there for the past three and one half years.  Mary was born on August 21, 1933 in Verona.  She was the only child of Edward and Mary Albrech.  Mary attended St. Joseph's School in Verona and Verona High School, where she was the valedictorian.  She was retired from Bell Telephone, where she trained service representatives.  Mary, known to loved ones as Mimi, loved reading, shopping, and spending time with her beloved family and dogs, friends, and special sisters-in-law.  She enjoyed day trips, especially to Sharon, Pa., as well as short vacations.  Her favorite destination was Lancaster, Pa.  Mary was a big fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and of the men's basketball team at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, where her son-in-law is the coach.  Mary is survived by her children, Sharon (Robert) Rukavina and Thomas E. Gent, Jr.; and her grandson, Nicholas R. Rukavina.  She leaves behind her precious dog, Goldie.  In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas E. Gent; her aunt, Yivonia Albrech; and Candace C. Compton, the long-time companion of Thomas E. Gent, Jr.  Mimi will be forever greatly loved and missed.  Private arrangements and burial at Plum Creek Cemetery were entrusted to English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 378 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139.
