Nancy Jane Purdy, 97, a lifelong resident of Oakmont, PA passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends at Longwood of Oakmont on May 1, 2026. She was born December 2, 1928 in Pittsburgh, PA to Gladys and Victor E. Voss. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert J. Purdy, her daughter, Debra, and her brother, James V. Voss. She is survived by two daughters, Diane (Wayne) Blackwell of Cranberry Township, and Dee (the late William) Weisel of Murrysville, grandsons Brian (Stephanie) and David (Lauren) Blackwell, Charles (Dolores) Adams, granddaughters, Beth (Andy) Brigant and Sarah (Jeremy) Boyle, and great-grandchildren: Jacob and Oscar Adams, Brooke and Chloe Blackwell, Nolan Blackwell, and her very special friend, William Kern.
Nancy graduated from Oakmont High School and Miss Conley’s Business School where she was employed as the school’s secretary. She was an active member of the Oakmont Presbyterian Church since 1943 serving as Deacon and Elder, and the Head Usher for 22 years. She was a charter member of the Dark Hollow Garden Club sharing her love of flower arranging and gardening. As an accomplished pianist and organist, Nancy instilled a joy of music in her family and all she entertained. At Longwood, she was an enthusiastic bridge player and a bingo caller. Nancy enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and vacationing at the Jersey Shore with her family.
A Memorial Service will be held June 6, 2026 at 2 PM at Longwood at Oakmont. The family respectfully suggests memorial contributions to the OAKMONT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, Friends of Music Fund, 415 Pennsylvania Avenue, Oakmont, PA, 15139.
