Paul Lingeris Obituary

Paul T. Lingeris

Age 81, of Washington Township, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021. Beloved husband of 43 years to Diane Miskinis Lingeris; loving father of Anna Elizabeth Lingeris, and James Paul (Jenna Lynn) Lingeris; adoring grandfather of Sophia LuAnn, Jonathan James, Charles David, and Penelope Mae Lingeris; son-in-law of the late John and Ann Miskinis; brother of Lillian Schmeck, George Lingeris, the late Michael Lingeris, and the late Mary (Thomas) Boone; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Paul was a talented laborer with a natural ability to build nearly anything, He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 743, which brought him to Pittsburgh in the mid-1970s. Fate allowed Paul to meet the love of his life, his best friend, his "honey" and "dear, Diane, in the middle of a parking lot in 1976.  He built his life with her; raising his two children and building his dream home with his own two hands - made of cedar and stone - which he would proudly say.  Paul loved sports, mainly Penn State football and the Pittsburgh Penguins, but could only watch when they were winning.  He loved home improvement and working throughout his yard. Every year a new structure would pop up - from a gazebo, to his wife's garden shed, to a koi fish pond.  Animals loved Paul and Paul loved animals.  Over the years he was the proud pet parent to numerous cats, dogs, birds, hamsters, chickens, ducks, and even bearded dragons; most recently his love was for his bulldogs, Elouise and Edith. But the main source of Paul's energy, love and pride was his family.  Paul was "sociable" - as he'd like to say. He talked to anyone and everyone about his family. He wanted to tell you about his son and daughter-in-law (who was like his second daughter) and bragged about his grandchildren at any chance he could get; taking out his iphone to scroll through photos and tell stories to anyone who would listen. Paul had a heart of gold - giving the shirt off his back, or the last dollar in his pocket to anyone who would need it.  Lastly, he had a love of sweets; shoofly pie was his favorite, but he had a special place in his heart for candy - Hershey's candy to be specific. Over the past 12 years, his favorite pastime was passing out Hershey's candy to anyone he crossed paths with - just to tell them how proud he was of his daughter that she worked for the Hershey Company. Paul was a genuine man, simple to his core, with a heart that could fill a universe. Paul loved life and was happy when those he loved were happy. Friends and family will be received on Friday, October 8, 2021, from 10-11 a.m. in Dormition of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church, 12 Washington Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139, where a service will follow at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the church.
