CATANZARO, ROSE M.
Age 93, of Oakmont, PA passed away on January 4, 2024. She was a wonderful Mother to Joseph Catanzaro Jr. (Jean) and Annette Catanzaro Badali (James), proud Grandmother to Kristina Badali and Amanda Badali Pagnotta (Michael) and adoring Great Grandmother to James Marco, Aria Rose and Matteo V. Pagnotta.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband of over 55 years, Joseph F. Catanzaro and sister, Lee (Martucci) Kendall. She is survived by her sister Dr. Mary E. Martucci of South Bend, IN and many nieces and nephews.
Rose was born in Pittsburgh, PA. She studied voice and music with a private instructor for many years and was an accomplished Soprano who hosted her own radio show on WDUQ when she was 23 years old. She met her husband, who also appreciated her love for singing, while working as a secretary for Demase and Manna Produce Company, and they continued lessons together. They married, moved to Oakmont, PA, and performed professionally at weddings, banquets and community functions for over 40 years. Rose also worked alongside her husband at a family operated a fruit and vegetable stand for over 38 years (30 years located at the bottom of Coxcomb Hill, in New Kensington, PA).
Rose was a member of the St. Irenaeus Catholic Parish (Oakmont, PA) Choir for over 30 years and a member of St. Joseph’s Parish (Verona, PA) for several years following.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 4 – 7 PM at ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 378 Maryland Ave, Oakmont, PA 15139. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 10:30 AM in Holy Family Parish (St. Irenaeus Church) 387 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment will follow at Allegheny Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions can be made to The National Shrine of St. Jude or the American Cancer Society.
