Tanner Young Obituary

Tanner Reed Young

We lost our sweet, precious boy, Tanner Reed Young, on Friday, July 15, 2022, as he passed away peacefully in his sleep. Tanner was a beautiful soul adored by family and friends. His red hair, tight hugs, infectious laugh and smile were his trademarks. He was born in Fox Chapel and attended Hartwood Elementary. He then moved to McDonald and attended South Fayette School District. He didn’t let his PKAN diagnosis limit him. He was involved with Miracle League Baseball, Special Olympics, and horseback riding. He enjoyed being in the chorus and the middle school musical, The Lion King. Over the years, Tanner remained strong, brave, courageous, and determined to do everything he could. He did more in his short time here than some people do in a lifetime. His parents made sure he had many special life experiences including: countless trips to Disneyworld, riding in a helicopter over Niagara Falls, cruising to the Bahamas, hiking in the Smokey Mountains, going camping, and having sleepovers with his aunts and cousins. Tanner definitely had a mischievous side. Playing in the dirt and joking around with Pap was his favorite past time. Teasing his mom and laughing about it was always very funny to him. He could also be found causing a ruckus in school or in the neighborhood with his nurse and pal, Nick as well as his many friends. He is survived by his mother, Nicole Stites and father, Scott Young. His stepfather, Terry Stites and stepmother, Brittany Young were so very important in taking care of Tanner. His sister, Mia and bonus siblings, Braedyn and Austin were supportive and loving each day. He is also survived by his loving maternal grandparents, Richard and Sandy Savinda and paternal grandmother, Karen Young. He was adored by his large family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him tremendously: Aunt Leigh-Ann (Uncle Jason) Scheponik, Uncle Jeff (Aunt Lauren) Savinda, Uncle Greg (Aunt Lindsay) Savinda (cousins – Mahkena, Cody, Cole, Tessa, Jase, Blake, Bryce, Reagan, and Brody), Aunt Tracie (Uncle Doug) Walker, Aunt Dawn (Uncle Jud) Boozer (cousins – Zack (Laura, Joey, Arzella, and Roland), Maggie, Ty, Tara, and Kori). Extended family includes the families of grandparents Floyd and Donna Stites and Tracey and Marilee Khalil. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Allan Young. Tanner was loved beyond measure and will be missed every single day. He is finally free of pain as he is now running, playing, eating tacos and ice cream up in heaven. Family and friends will be received Wednesday, July 20, 2022 and Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-8pm, at English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 378 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022, at 10am, in Holy Family Parish (St. Irenaeus Church), 387 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.
